The Toxic singer believes performing at the prestigious annual Royal Variety Show in December will boost her profile and prove she is back on track following a public meltdown earlier this year.
It has been claimed Prince Harry and his girlfriend Chelsy Davy, who are big fans of the 26-year-old star, first suggested Britney as a possible performer.
Britney was thrilled with the invitation and has been in contact with EBF, the organisers of the variety show, to discus the details.
A source is quoted on the FOXNews website as saying: “She feels that this is a great seal of approval and knows that it’s an honour to be asked. Plus, what a great comeback and who better than in front of the royal family?
“Britney is over the moon with the offer and is already making arrangements.”
This year’s Royal Variety Show will be held at The London Palladium on 11 December. The event attracts a star-studded cast each year, with previous performers including Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Lionel Richie, Sir Elton John, Dame Shirley Bassey and Kylie Minogue.
Britney has been a fan of the British royal family for years. In 2002, she revealed she had become “quite friendly” with Prince William after the pair exchanged several emails.
Britney even invited the future king to visit her in America, saying: “He was supposed to come and see me somewhere but it didn’t work out.”
