The Duchess of York returned to the home of Tonia and Mick Sargerson in Hull, England, in a bid to promote healthy, free, school meals.

She said: “Tonia and Mike are looking great. They have lost weight. They have stopped smoking in front of the children. I was really impressed with what they have achieved. They have done it. Not me. But it has been great to be part of it.”

Talking about the couple’s seven-year-old daughter Olly, she added: “When you see her now she is glowing and healthy. Previously she was grey and suffering from colds. She is showing the signs of good healthy living.”

The WeightWatchers ambassador said she strongly believes schools should provide free school meals in the Shape Up initiative to encourage healthy eating among the pupils.

She said: “Some schools don’t even have kitchens. The children cannot learn because they are hungry. If you give children a well balanced meal their behaviour and learning improves.”

Upon visiting some local primary schools, she told pupils: “I am the Duchess of York. I am here to campaign for you to eat well, play well and sleep well. Being on the public stage means I can put schools like this on the map. It means I can help children.”
