JUDE LAW and Robert Downey Jr brought their double act to Leicester Square last night for the premiere of the new Sherlock Holmes film.

When asked about his on-off affair with Sienna Miller, Law had a comeback ready: “The only person I’m in love with is sitting on my left,” he said, indicating Downey Jr. The twosome are “very much on the same page, which is a pretty eccentric page,” he laughed.
Law takes the part of side-kick Watson to Downey Jr’s Holmes, a pair whose looks have become one of the talking points of this version of the classic London detective story. The pretty-boy departure applies especially to Watson, who has usually been portrayed as a stuffy bumbler.
“I wanted a good looking Watson,” said director Guy Ritchie.
“I always saw their relationship as much more of an equal partnership.”
“I had an idea of how he should be represented and from what I understand it’s not quite how he’s been previously represented,” he told reporters at the premiere.
Early reviews have been positive, something of a treat for Ritchie, most of whose films have been trashed by the critics and Law was quick to pay tribute to the on-set atmosphere created by the director.
“He was the father to the two wayward sons,” said Law.
Those wayward twins meet their match in the phwoar! stakes in the forms of Heather Graham and Gwen Stefani, who were both on the red carpet last night.
