In support of the release of The Muppets, Kermit, Miss Piggy and the film’s director James Brobin held a series of promotional appearances and interviews across London.

We caught up with them at The Mayfair Hotel in Green Park. After a long wait Kermit and Brobin came to the stage and talked to us about how it was great to get the Muppet gang back together and freshen up the stable’s formula. Asked about the charm of the Muppets, Brobin said:
“I think it’s because they’re not very good at what they do, you have to really root for them.”
“They are the perennial underdogs.”
Eventually, having been delayed at the bar apparently, Miss Piggy joined the press conference with a nonchalant, diva swagger. It’s amazingly easy to go with the flow and forget for a moment that you’re chatting away with puppets, er, sorry, these be Muppets.
The most enjoyable exchange came when the trio were asked about their reaction to comments made on the US based channel Fox News accusing the latest Muppets movie of indoctrinating children against the wonders of capitalism; the film’s plot revolving the machinations of an oil-magnate. Their response was typically humorous, witty and engaging:
