You can’t beat a bit of creative tension to get results. Just in the last week, we’ve had: William Gallas throwing a wobbler at his Arsenal team mates; David Cameron and Gordon Brown going tax to tax in the Commons over the future of Britain and the world; Amy and Blake name-calling as they pass each other on the way in and out of rehab and I nearly lashed out at my computer when the browser crashed for the 23rd time in an hour.

In these circumstances, the response is often to call for peace to break out. If only everyone could get along and all that.
But look at the evidence. The upshot of the examples above is that Arsenal beat Kyiv 1-0; Amy finally got shot of Blake; the Brown/Cameron Punch and Judy show makes us glad it’s not them running the universe but Obama and my PC started to behave itself. Best of all, having a good old rumpus is usually free and, since every article at the moment has to mention the credit crunch, I make that a tip top topical point.
