Prince Harry spent a staggering £5,000 during a two-hour drinking binge in a London nightclub.
The 23-year-old royal started the evening with girlfriend Chelsy Davy, but later engaged in a drinking competition when US rocker Cisco Adler arrived at Boujis nightclub.
A source is quoted in the Daily Mirror: “It was like a battle to see who could spend the most money on alcohol. In one corner there was the prince and his girlfriend Chelsy. In the other corner, there was Cisco and his rocker friends. The waiter had never been so busy and was running up and down taking their orders.”
Harry began the evening by drinking Crackbaby cocktails – shots of vodka, passion fruit and raspberry liqueur – but then moved onto harder drinks.
The source added: “At first Harry and Chelsy were smooching in the VIP area. Then the drinking games began and they were downing six in a row and giggling whenever one of them lost.
“Then Cisco took them on with vodka, mixers and an array of shots. Eventually the prince and Chelsy were up on their feet to Harry’s favourite hip-hop songs and they had a raucous dance off with Cisco and his friends.”
Harry and Chelsy left around 2.15am on Saturday morning (06.09.08), after Harry’s cousin arrived at the club to calm the revellers down.
Harry’s wild behaviour has come under fire from MP Stephen Pound, who claims the prince is setting a bad example in light of the credit crunch in the UK.
He said: “That sort of behaviour certainly won’t endear him to many of his dad’s future subjects. They will be astonished at the sums involved. Times are tough for a lot of people and they don’t have anything like that kind of money to spend.”
