The 23-year-old royal and the Zimbabwean-born student will attend the wedding of Harry’s cousin Peter Phillips on May 17, where the prince will make sure Chelsy meets his grandmother.

Although the 22-year-old blonde has met Harry’s father Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall on numerous occasions, an introduction to the queen is considered a significant step for a potential princess.

A source told the Daily Mail: “They are closer than ever and his cousin Peter’s wedding appears to be the perfect opportunity to introduce Chelsy to his grandmother without too much formality.

“Don’t expect an engagement yet but it is fair to say that they are closer than ever.”

Harry and Chelsy have been dating for almost four years, although have briefly split in that time. Last year, she moved from her family’s home in South Africa to study at Leeds University so she could be closer to Harry.

On Monday (05.05.08), Harry received his first medal, from his aunt Princess Anne, for his time in Afghanistan, where he spent 10 weeks as a Forward Air Controller.

The ceremony, held to honour 170 members of the Household Cavalry Regiment, was witnessed by Prince Charles and Harry’s brother Prince William. Chelsy also witnessed the ceremony at Combermere Barracks in Windsor – her first formal event with the prince.
