In Hainault Forest Country Park, north east London, 250 Scouts and Cadets aim to whack up 20,000 in the space of an hour, in an event backed by the Woodland Trust and the BBC.

Meanwhile a similar team of young green-fingers is to take on the same feat in Heartwood Forest, St Albans.

Tree O’Clock, as they’re billing both record attempts, kicks off at 11am on Saturday and is part of an even bigger tree-based record push, this time to plant 600,000 trees across the whole of the UK.

Tree fans can be part of the nationwide stunt, simply by planting a tree in their back gardens. More info on how to take part here.
