The event on the Square kicks off at 2.00pm with live music from Shama and Friends, warming up to the traditional circular dance known as Garba at 2.45pm and goes on to include a vibrant stage show with Bollywood music and Dhol beats sharing the action with classical and urban dancers.
All that and more is washed down with the help of DJs from the BBC Asian Network until the party winds down at 7pm.
In English, Diwali is called the Festival of Light, which is why you see what look like Christmas lights in some high streets across town at this time of year. In some boroughs, they do indeed double up as Christmas lights.
Diwali also a bit like Christmas and New Year rolled into one as it is all about renewal, as well as love and forgiveness.
