The former Spice Girl and a host of other designers including Holly Fulton, Jonathan Saunders and Zandra Rhodes have designed a new bank note in order to keep London Printworks – one of the UK’s leading textile print factories – from closing.

The counterfeit money or ‘counterfeat’ works of art will be sold to attempt to raise the £200,000 necessary to keep the company open next year after its funding was cut.

Beckham told Vogue.co.uk: “I am proud that my business is based in London and it is important that we nurture the skills and talent within the British fashion industry.

“The London Printworks is one of the few remaining facilities in the UK that offers the opportunity to create bespoke textiles and their great work has to be supported.”

The fashion designer has also been tweeting about the cause, and asking her followers to buy her cat print limited edition note.

She wrote: “My VictoriaCat limited edition £50 artnote for sale!! Supporting London textile charity #counterfeat http://www.counterfeat.co.uk xVB (sic).”
