The figure-hugging Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen cowl neck silk gown – which Pippa wore for the wedding of her sister Duchess Catherine to Prince William – went on sale on Net-A-Porter.com priced at £1,195 on Monday (21.11.11) but is now no longer available.
The smallest size, an Italian 36 – the equivalent of a US size zero and a UK 4 – was the first to run out of stock.
Describing the dress – which is identical to Pippa’s except it has a zip instead of buttons – the website said: “Beautifully cut, elegant and timeless, Alexander McQueen’s silk-crepe gown will make an exquisite choice for your wedding day.
“The signature accentuated shoulders and draped neckline are effortlessly flattering – style a clean silhouette with swept-back hair and drop earrings for radiant, understated appeal.
“Those with a curvy figure may wish to try the next size up.”
Earlier this year, Debenhams announced plans to produce a replica £170 version of the dress after being “inundated” by requests from customers.
Alain Mehada, of the Debenhams Oxford Street store, said: “The ivory dress worn by Pippa is the most requested by far.
“Both men and women everywhere were instantly talking about Pippa, so naturally brides-to-be will want to emulate her classic look – both for themselves or their bridesmaids.”
The chain has also created a copycat version of the green, floor-length Alice Temperley gown that Pippa wore to William and Catherine’s evening reception.
