The Simple Life star – who is due to give birth to her first child in January – and the Good Charlotte frontman gave all their baby shower gifts to charity, but kept a book from each guest.
A source told People magazine: “Nicole and Joel told all their guests to give baby gifts to their new charity, but their friends brought extra presents for them. Every guest brought one children’s book to help build the baby’s library.”
The Office star Rashida Jones, who was a guest at The Wizard of Oz themed party on Sunday (18.11.07), praised the couple for being so generous.
She said: “It’s really sweet. We’re given so much stuff it’s almost wasteful, and it’s nice when we’re giving to each other to give to someone else.”
Although Nicole and Joel are yet to confirm the sex of their baby, the couple reportedly received mostly blue gifts, suggesting they are expecting a boy.
The engaged couple have just set up the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation for mothers in need and will next month donate 100 ‘Mom-to-Be kits’ to the Los Angeles Free Clinic.
