Bob Venero, who bills himself as The Humanitarian Hit Man, offered the highest price to take on Michael, the father of Georgia Rule actress Lindsay, in a charity boxing match.

Michael, 48, said: “It’s a fight, it’s going to get serious. But it’s about charity. We’re not going to kill each other.

“There have been so many jabs taken at me personally but you all know I’m not one to stand there and take a punch.”

Venero, 40, the founder of the Bob Venero Children’s Foundation – which helps kids with severe or chronic illnesses, admits he has no boxing experience but is ready to fight.

He said: “We’re both going to give it our all. As a fellow New Yorker and a humanitarian, I feel I’m doing the nation a favour by getting in the ring with him.”

Michael – who has had public arguments with both his daughter and ex-wife Dina – insists his family supports him in the fight, but adds that Venero wasn’t his number one target.

He said: “I was hoping it was going to be someone else. Internet blogger Perez Hilton was my number one choice and still is. But it’s all for charity.”

The money raised by the fight – to be held at the Hilton hotel in Long Island, New York, on November 24 – will go to a number of charities based in Long Island. Actor Stephen Baldwin will be the judge of the match.
