MONTY PYTHON’S Life of Brian has finally been passed by censors to be screened across the whole of Britain.

When it came out in 1980 the comedy film, which pokes gentle fun at the story of Jesus, was banned by some local councils in the UK.

Over the years, those bans were gradually overturned and now Glasgow, the last hold-out local authority, has given in and passed the movie for general release.

“Life of Brian has been broadcast on television over the years and is now widely available on DVD,” said a with-it member of Glasgow’s licensing committee.

“The world, and people’s attitudes, have moved on in the last 30 years so I believe the committee made the right decision.”

Life of Brian is now to be shown at the Glasgow Film Theatre in September.
