Katie Holmes is returning to her TV roots to play a singing attorney.

The Mad Money actress, who rose to fame playing Joey Potter in hit US show Dawson’s Creek, will make her small screen comeback with an appearance in Eli Stone.
The programme’s executive producer Greg Berlanti, who previously worked with Katie on Dawson’s Creek, asked the actress to take the role as he knew it would help to boost ratings.
Greg said: “I begged her and she said, ‘I’d love to.'”
He revealed Katie’s lawyer character will appear in the episode “a significant amount”.
Katie will also show off her vocal talents and dance moves.
Steve McPherson – president of ABC, the US TV network that airs Eli Stone – said: “There’s actually some singing and dancing she does and she’s exquisite. I saw her do a read-through and she was fabulous.”
Katie began shooting the episode yesterday (16.07.08), and the programme’s main star Jonny Lee Miller is delighted to be working with the actress.
He told America’s OK! magazine: “It’s really going to help us, apart from the fact that she’s extremely hard working and really, really nice person to have around the set.
“We did 17 hours yesterday, most of her time was spent dancing and then we had a big long scene to do and she did not bat an eyelid.”
The episode is due to be broadcast in October.
It was previously claimed Katie’s husband Tom Cruise was set to make a guest appearance on the series, after he was seen visiting the set with Katie and their two-year-old daughter Suri.
