Runners-up spot was claimed by Heart’s twosome, Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott, while bronze medal went to Neil Fox of oldies-based station Magic.

Vaughan and Snowdon’s Capital Radio show pulled in an average of 981,000 listeners for the last three months of 2008, a solid increase of nearly 40,000 on the same period the year before.

For that three-month stretch, an average of 868,000 turned their dials to Theakston and Scott in the wake-up hours, with 813,000 favouring Foxy.

Overall, Magic was the top commercial London radio station for the fourth survey running, Heart was second, Capital, third, with Kiss 100 fourth.

BBC Radio stations aren’t included here, but Radio 1’s London audience would be neck and neck with Heart and Radio 2 the most popular of all.
