Hulk Hogan is being sued by the family of John Graziano, who was left in a semi-conscious state after his son’s car crash last year.

Former wrestling champion Hulk and his wife Linda have been accused of being “negligent and directly liable for the wreck” in the suit filed by Graziano’s family, which also lists their son Nick Hogan as a defendant.

Daniel Jacobs, who was also involved in the accident after racing his car alongside Nick’s, was listed as a co-defendant in the suit.

War veteran Graziano, 23, was hospitalised after Nick crashed his allegedly modified Toyota Supra car after racing the Doge Viper car driven by Daniel on August 26, 2007.

Graziano has been left in a partly vegetative state. After part of his brain’s frontal lobe was removed following the accident, he can only respond to heat and light.

Kimberly Kohn, an attorney for the Graziano family, said she hoped the lawsuit would see the Hogans accept accountability for their son’s “reckless and negligent” driving.

She added: “They not only encouraged it but they also did not take appropriate action to stop it and to protect the safety of the public.”

The suit, which seeks damages of over USD15,000 from the Hogan family, claims Hulk bought alcohol for 17-year-old Nick and his friends on the day of the crash.

It also details a history of Nick’s driving history, including how he was pulled over twice in 2006 for speeding at over 100mph and the three speeding tickets he received in 2007.

In February, Daniel Jacobs was fined USD500, sentenced to 90 days probation, ordered to complete 25 hours of community service and had his driver’s license suspended for 90 days after pleading no contest on a charge of reckless driving.
