Former Ally McBeal star Courtney Thorne-Smith gave birth to her first child on Friday (11.01.08).

The 40-year-old actress and husband Roger Fishman have named their son Jacob Emerson Fishman. He was born at Los Angles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Centre. Courtney’s representative said: “Mother and dad are thrilled. They say the baby is absolutely gorgeous.”
The actress – who currently stars as Jim Belushi’s wife in hit ABC comedy According to Jim – and 47-year-old Roger, who owns a media company, were married on New Year’s Day last year in an intimate home ceremony.
The couple met on an airplane in 2004, three years after Courtney split from her first husband Andrew Conrad, a genetic scientist.
She said of the pregnancy last year: “It’s such an amazing moment for both of us. We both sort of had to say, I don’t know if this is going to happen for me. The fact it’s happening is just astounding!”
