The Legend of Zorro actress has been left devastated by the death of her beloved grandma, Zeta Jones, who died on Wednesday morning (13.08.08).

Catherine – who was named after Zeta – and her husband Michael Douglas are expected to fly back to her native Wales in time for the funeral, which will be held next week.

Zeta, 91, had been ill for several days and died in her sleep at her daughter Valerie’s house in Swansea, Wales.

A family friend told WalesOnline: “Zeta had been unwell for a short while and unfortunately had to miss a family birthday party recently.

“The family have been hit very hard by it because she was so loved by them all.”

Zeta’s next door neighbour Mike Thomas added: “I’ve known Mrs. Jones since I was born. She was a real duchess.

“She was extremely popular around here, always talking to people, very proud to talk about Catherine, but never going on about it too much.

“She had been very fit up to the past few weeks.”

Zeta was the mother of Catherine’s father Dai. She got her exotic name from a merchant ship called The Zeta which used to bring copper into Swansea Docks.

Catherine was known to be very close to her grandmother.
Last February, she flew all the way from Bermuda to Wales to bring her flowers for her birthday.
