During lockdown, visitors can savour two major artworks through the gallery's floor-to-ceiling windows onto Hoxton Street including the large-scale film work Movements Of A Flatfish projected onto the windows and the original orchestral performance of the musical installation Pineapple Project, accessible on smartphones.
Savinder Bual is driven by a fascination with the illusory qualities inherent in cinema and early animation. She explores the interplay between the moving and the still, creating works that sit between the pre-cinematic and the digital. Her work also playfully addresses colonial histories and notions of inclusive narratives in today's society.
