This year, the Women's Prize for Fiction turns 25! Westarted this book groupalmost two years ago with Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie, the 2018 winner. To celebrate, we are renaming our group and changing ourselections to include some winners from the past 25 years. This month, we'll be reading The Glorious Heresies by Lisa McInerney. One messy murder affects the lives of five misfits who exist on the fringes of Ireland's post-crash society. Ryan is a fifteen-year-old drug dealer desperate not to turn out like his alcoholic father Tony, whose obsession with his unhinged next-door neighbour threatens to ruin him and his family. Biting, moving and darkly funny, The Glorious Heresies explores salvation, shame and the legacy of Ireland's twentieth-century attitudes to sex and family. If you'd like to join us, we'll meet on Wednesday 15th Julyat 6pm in our Fiction section on the 1st floor.
