FIRST KNIGHT Theatre presents Living Together By Alan Ayckbourn Directed by Pauline Armour Fri 14 2pm & 8pm, Sat 15 Aug 8pm Following the success of Ayckbourn's classic comedy 'Round and Round the Garden' in August 2019, Frist Knight Theatre returns to Hever in 2020 with 'Living Together' another of the plays in the award-winning trilogy of 'The Norman Conquests'. The action takes place over a Summer weekend and whereas in 2019 we witnessed a series of frenzied encounters in the garden, in 2020 we see what was developing behind closed doors in the living room. Living Together standsalone for first-time audiences and gives an added dimension for audiences who have already been introduced to Ayckbourn's characters. Lecherous Norman is desperately intent on making all the women in his life happy - simultaneously attempting to seduce his sister-in-law Annie, charm her brother's wife Sarah and still keep his own wife Ruth, happy whilst the emotionally inept neighbour Tom lumbers from one state of bewilderment to the next. Oblivious to the repercussions of his actions, Norman leaves a trail of havoc, misunderstandings and comedy consequences culminating in the playing of a furiously competitive, homemade board game and the erotic delights of a brown nylon rug. At times wildly comic, and at times poignant Living Together brilliantly portrays the complicated relationships that exist in many families. This is Ayckbourn at his brilliant best! 'In the end it's Ayckbourn's sheer theatrical know-how and beady insight into meaningless family rituals that accounts for the gusts of laughter that sweep through the theatre.' The Guardian (reviewing the play)
