Buddhist Sand Mandala Creation With Karma Lhatrul Rinpoche

An outdoor sculpture construction.

The Yogi creates a sacred configuration of geometric symbols which evokes the spirit of a teaching or divinity.

Join Karma Lhatrul Rinpoche, a Bhutanese yogi in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, as he creates a sand mandala in the Museum's Great Court to celebrate the Tantra exhibition. A mandala is a sacred configuration of geometric symbols which evokes the spirit of a teaching or divinity. At the centre of this particular mandala will be Tantric deity Vajrayogini, the 'queen of enlightened wisdom'. The construction will begin with a healing Chod ceremony to consecrate the space and will include teaching by Karma Lhatrul himself.
