Art in all its form has the potential of reaching a point of alchemy between interpreter and audience able to transport them into a mysterious level of emotion; a red hot status capable of immersing the audience into an indescribable experience.
In flamenco, this concept is referred o as "duende". Performers never talk about it, but are always in the pursuit of the inspiration that will allow them to get there, reaching total involvement in the art and deep communion with the audience. This elusive state can be referred to as the core of flamenco – artists will use all the ingrediants available to them in order to achieve it. Duende, added to a dancer's experience- everything that has taught them how and what makes that music the way it is , plus the character with which they are displayed, amount to, Flamencura.

The Cast
As previously announced, at Sadler’s Wells, the title role of ‘Luca, The Car Man’, will be played by Marcelo Gomes, Jonathan Ollivier and Chris Trenfield; all three dancers worked together last year, sharing the role of ‘The Swan’ when international ballet superstar Marcelo Gomes made his debut with New Adventures in the Tokyo Season of Matthew Bourne’s “Swan Lake”. The role of ‘Lana’ will be danced by Ashley Shaw (who recently enjoyed great success as ‘Kim’ in “Edward Scissorhands”) and Zizi Strallen, who joined us direct from the West End production of “Cats”. Zizi was last seen with New Adventures in “Cinderella” in 2011. ‘Rita’, Lana’s older sister, will be performed by Katy Lowenhoff (who also recently starred as ‘Kim’ in “Edward Scissorhands”) and Kate Lyons (Bourne’s “Sleeping Beauty”, “Early Adventures”). The demanding role of ‘Angelo’ will be shared by rising company star, Liam Mower, and one of New Adventures most popular leading men, Dominic North. Dominic and Liam both received rave reviews for their moving performances as the title character in New Adventures’ “Edward Scissorhands” on its recent UK tour.
