The 26-year-old royal – who is president of the Football Association (FA) – continually ran out of breath and fell over during the match, and his team, including his brother Prince Harry, were eventually beaten 6 – 2 by a team of amateurs from the remote village of Igxarho on South Africa’s Wild Coast.

An onlooker told The Sun: “William looked very clumsy.
Every time the ball came near him he either fell over or appeared frightened.

“Harry came on towards the end but things didn’t really improve much. I don’t think the village side realised they were playing the FA president.”

The game took place half way through the princes’ 1,000-mile Enduro Challenge rally. They are completing the gruelling ride to raise money for several charities including the Sentebale fund, which Harry founded to help children with HIV in Lesotho.

The brothers later sped off to their hotel on their 250cc Honda bikes, but failed to strap on their helmets before driving away.

Their actions could land them a £25 fine from local police as riding without a helmet is a crime in South Africa.
