The feisty girl group are appearing at a special concert at Osbourne House, on the Isle of Wight, later this month and will use the Duchess of Kent suite to prepare for their show.

A source said: “If walls could talk, the Duchess of Kent suite would certainly have some tales to tell. But quite what the royals who have stayed there in the past would make of Girls Aloud’s vast collection of leotards, stilettos and glitter is anyone’s guess.”

The Duchess of Kent suite was named after Queen Victoria’s mother who was a frequent visitor to the property.

Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert bought Osborne House in 1845 after the queen fell in love with the Isle of Wight while spending time there as a child.

The couple used it as a refuge to escape the pressures of royal life.

The rooms were also used by King George V and Queen Mary when they stayed at the “palace by the sea” after the death of Queen Victoria. Girls Aloud and Paul Weller will headline the two-day event in the grounds of Osborne House, held over the weekend of July 26 and 27.
