The royal and her writer husband Ari Behn welcomed Emma Tallulah Behn into the world after the birth at the family home in Lommedalen, outside Oslo yesterday (30.09.08).

A royal spokesperson confirmed the news, saying: “Princess Maertha Louise gave birth to a daughter at her and her husband Ari Behn’s home. Mother and baby are doing fine.”

The princess – who is also mother to Maud Angelica Behn, five, and Leah Isadora Behn, three – is an advocate for home births and has caused controversy with medical experts, who recommend a hospital environment.

Emma – who, along with her sisters, does not hold a royal title after her mother married Behn in 2002 – is King Harald and Queen Sonja’s fifth grandchild.

Maertha – who is forth in line to the throne – hit the headlines when she claimed to have clairvoyant powers and set up a “healing” school for children to allow them to get in touch with their guardian angels.
