The mother-of-two – who previously made her name as a children’s author with her book Budgie The Little Helicopter – signed copies of her new tome Tea For Ruby in New York yesterday (01.10.08), and explained the moral reasoning behind the book.

She said: “I was brought up to appreciate that there is a time and place for manners. Not just for the sake of following rules, but rather because etiquette and good manners show courtesy and respect.”

Tea For Ruby, which tells the story of an untidy girl who is invited to have tea with the queen, is also meant to encourage young girls to act like Sarah’s daughters – Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

She added: “I’ve raised my girls as part of the royal family according to this philosophy. Now I can pass along this message to princesses everywhere.”
