The princess’s lover Dodi Fayed had arranged for the William and Harry, then aged 12 and 14, to visit Pinewood Studios, where Tomorrow Never Dies was being filmed.

However, Diana and Dodi were killed in a Paris car crash on August 31, 1997, two days before the planned visit. Dodi’s friend Barbara Broccoli, daughter of Bond producer Cubby Broccoli, helped organise the trip.

Barbara also told the jury at the High Court that Dodi had hinted at an engagement to Diana.

In a statement, she said he told her: “I’ve never been so happy in my life. I’ve something very important to tell you.”

She added: “My impression was that it related to his personal life and his relationship with Diana.”

Dodi’s father, Mohamed Al Fayed has always maintained the couple were murdered by the British establishment as they were about to announce their engagement and Diana was pregnant.
