The Wild at Heart star met the queen at this year’s Royal Variety Performance and was shocked when she realised the royal bore a striking resemblance to her beloved elderly relative.
Amanda, 36, told BANG Showbiz: ‘The queen was lovely. She reminded me a bit of my grandmother. But she was so small! In the back of my mind I kept thinking ‘My mother would be so proud of me.’
The actress also revealed royal protocol was broken when Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts met the queen back stage following the annual charity performance at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre.
She said: ‘We all lined up to meet her and it was all very quiet and serious. And then when she got to Paul we all just burst into applause and whooped and clapped. It was amazing.’
Former mobile phone salesman Paul was voted by the public to perform for the queen at the Royal Variety Performance after he wowed Amanda and her fellow judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan on the ITV talent show earlier this year.
