Islington Museum, London

The New Islington Museum opened its doors in May 2008. Using its collection it explores the borough’s history through a number of exciting ways. Islington Museum’s collection has been built up over the past 20 years. It is based on objects relevant to the borough’s varied and important history from the Roman period through to modern times. The gallery uses audio and visual displays, along side object based display cases to explore some themes that have made Islington what it is today. The museum focuses on 9 main topics, these are: Food and Drink, Fashion, Childhood, Leisure, Healthcare, Radicals, Caring, Home, and Wartime. The Museum also houses an exhibition space, which has a wide programme of temporary exhibitions on during the year.
