To mark the 40th anniversary of the birth of Britain’s legendary and anarchic comedy troupe, Vue Entertainment will host an extraordinary simultaneous world premiere of the new film Monty Python: Almost The Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut) at 51 Vue cinemas across the UK on Tuesday 29 September 2009.

Bringing the existing Monty Python team back together again for the first time since the 1983 film Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, this definitive record of the Python phenomenon will feature brand new exclusive interviews and previously unseen footage of the existing Python team: John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin together with archive material of the late Graham Chapman.

“This is the documentary I always hoped that would be made – something so complete and so faithful to the truth that I don’t need to watch it,” said Terry Jones.

In Monty Python: Almost The Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut) the Pythons will tell their life story and reveal deeper truths together with more familiar Pythonesque history lessons from the Life of Brian, the pursuit of the Holy Grail to the arrival of the unexpected Spanish Inquisition, and combine these with insights from contemporary commentators including: Steve Coogan, Eddie Izzard, Olivia Harrison, Dan Aykroyd, Seth Green, Russell Brand and Bruce Dickinson.

“Monty Python broke new ground 40 years ago and re-shaped comedy forever. Its influence continues to resonate today across all popular culture and we are proud to be working alongside the Monty Python team and Vue Entertainment to bring this unique premiere event to Python fans across the UK,” said Andrew Winter, Supervising Producer of Eagle Rock.

Monty Python: Almost The Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut) is an Eagle Rock Entertainment production in association with IFC and is produced by UK Production Company Bill & Ben Productions. Series Producers are Ben Timlett and Bill Jones. Eagle Rock Entertainment Executive Producers are Geoff Kempin and Terry Shand, Supervising Producer Andrew Winter.
