LONDON UNDERGROUND’S policy of leaving dead bodies in cupboards and around bins comes under the TV glare tonight in a new documentary called Confessions from the Underground.

Last year, it emerged that Tube workers have on occasion stored dead people in mess room cupboards and tonight’s TV programme is set to expose more details of the gruesome practice.
“As far as I understand it, London Ambulance have limited resources and a few years back stopped taking anybody who’s deceased into their ambulances back to hospitals,” one anonymous Tube worker told the Channel 4 programme.
“Sometimes there’s a delay, it might be half an hour, maybe even two hours and then we’re left with a body on the platform and disturbingly for us we have to find a place to put a body.”
One of those places was “a bin store outside in the car park” the worker adds, as quoted in the Telegraph..
London Underground remains unapologetic.
“Following agreed procedures, a body may be moved to a secure room within the station to await collection by undertakers,” said a Tube spokesperson.
“We believe our staff do a fantastic job in responding to such difficult circumstances and they are offered counselling support, if necessary.”
Confessions from the Underground airs tonight on Channel 4 at 10pm.
