THE QUEEN has been named as one of the world’s 50 most glamorous women by Vogue magazine, on the eve of her appearance for the annual Queen’s Speech.

“She is as glamorous in her brogues and headscarf in Balmoral as she is wearing the crown jewels,” reported the fashion bible, which included the royal one along with models like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Her Majesty can also lay some claim to having dragged actress Helen Mirren onto the list, as the actress’s profile has soared since playing The Queen in the film of the same name.

Mirren was described by Vogue as being, “radiant as a lightbulb, sexy and talented and she dresses perfectly too.”

Though the Queen is associated in most people’s minds with ultra-conservative clothing, the whiff of royalty mixed with Hollywood can do wonders for the image of a girl’s wardrobe. In the aftermath of The Queen, the film, it was not unusual to see the monarch’s familiar waxed-green jackets on the backs of New York’s finest.

The Queen, the real person, presides over one of her most important events tomorrow when she reads out the government’s plans for the year ahead in the House of Lords, dressed in full royal regalia, stuff you can’t buy in Top Shop.
