“Police today [03.04.08] boarded a British Airways plane and removed a passenger,” confirmed a spokesperson for BAA, the company which runs Heathrow.

It seems Campbell’s exit from the Los Angeles-bound plane was the result of yet another luggage cock-up at the airport’s brand new Terminal 5, with one of the Streatham-born supermodel’s cases lost in T5’s baggage black hole.

“BA decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then called the police to forcibly eject her from the flight,” reported Campbell’s spokesperson.

“She was taken to the Heathrow police station and released on police bail. So far as we are aware BA have still failed to offer any explanation as to why her bag went missing at Terminal 5.”

One witness claims to have seen Campbell empty the contents off her mouth over one of the four police officers sent to deal with her and other witnesses are reported to have seen her punching and kicking.

After being taken to Heathrow’s police station, Campbell was released on bail late last night pending further police inquiries. If charged and found guilty of assaulting a police officer, she faces six months in prison.

Campbell’s temper has regularly fetched trouble her way, notably in 2006 when she served a community sentence in the US for chucking a mobile phone at her maid.
