The single, called This Is It – the same name given to the series of concerts planned for the O2 that would have been going on now – is due to be released on 12 October, with the exhibition opening on the 28th of the same month.
A couple of days earlier, on the 26th, This Is It the album hits the shops. A double disc package of songs that would have been in the live show, it will have two versions of This Is It the song.
“This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows – that Michael is one of God’s greatest gifts,” said This Is It producer John McClain.
Tagged Michael Jackson: The Official Exhibition, the O2 event takes a chronological look at Jacko’s career, covering his rise to fame from the Jackson 5 on to his record-breaking, video-flavoured solo career.
Organisers promise fans “never seen before memorabilia” including personal artefacts that had meaning in Jackson’s life and there will be some of the sparkling stage costumes worn by the King of Pop, plus videos and photographs from his private estate.
