Athletes, officials and Games staff will be able to whip around town in anything from sports limos and Minis to motorbikes.

On the Olympics site itself, bikes are the way organisers want things to go, part of the plan to cut down the 2012 Games’ carbon footprint.

“BMW bicycles will be available for use by athletes in the Athletes Village and by London 2012 staff,” said a BMW spokesperson, who also came out with the controversial-sounding idea that:

“BMW motorcycles will also be used in certain Olympic and Paralympic events.”
