In 1959, Jean-Luc Truffaut channelled his passion for cinema into the film The 400 Blows, which won two prizes in Cannes. He inspired good friend Jean-Luc Godard to try his hand behind the camera, providing the storyline for his debut feature, A Bout De Souffle (Breathless). This documentary charts their friendship and the subsequent political turmoil in France, which tested their relationship to breaking point.
