Single father Jim Grant is a defence attorney in Albany, New York with an 11-year-old daughter called Isabel. In truth, Jim is Nick Sloan, a former member of a militant group known as the Weather Underground, which robbed a Michigan bank in 1980, leading to the death of one of the security guards. Nick and his cohorts have been wanted by the FBI ever since. When former Weather Underground member Sharon Solarz is arrested, Jim realises his cover could be blown so he goes on the run with Isabel.
