Dave Roberts has supported Bromley FC for as long as he can remember but the team is anchored to the bottom of a non-league division. Deluded by his overactive imagination, Dave hatches a cunning scheme to turn the club’s fortunes around and entice scouts to visit the Hayes Lane ground to cast their eye over striker Alan Stonebridge. Club chairman Charlie McQueen is dubious of Dave’s chances but his child genius daughter Ruby takes a shine to Dave and watches with interest as his plan unfolds.
