FBI agent Joe Merriwether and his partner Katherine Cowles approach psychic John Clancy to help them hunt a serial killer, who is targeting seemingly random victims. Clancy gradually surmises a link between the deaths, which poses a tricky moral conundrum for the police as they edge closer to the perpetrator, Charles Ambrose. Complicating matters, Ambrose is also psychic and his ability outstrips Clancy. A tense game of cat and mouse ensues.
