It is the summer of 1910 and Andre Van Peteghem and his wife Isabelle head to the northern France coastal town of Slack Bay for the holidays with their teenage daughters Gaby and Blanche, and niece Billie. The haughty and bourgeois clan soon discovers that the picturesque holiday resort is at the centre of a faltering police investigation led by beleaguered chief Machin and his assistant Malfoy. They are investigating claims of cannibalism.
