A father races out of his home following a grenade attack to discover his wife has been killed. He carries her body into the house and consoles his daughter and younger son, who must now cope without a mother to nurture them. The sound of an approaching vehicle suggests a follow-up assault. Instead, a wandering caravan called Circus Fantasticus stops by the house. The performers help the family to come to terms with their loss.
