Richard is a sensitive yet broken man, whose lover Kai died recently. He struggles to come to terms with the loss and his isolation is exacerbated by the knowledge that Kai’s mother June knew nothing of their relationship and always thought that he and Kai were room mates. Eventually, Richard visits June in her retirement home. She doesn’t speak any English so Richard brings along a friend, Vann, who is fluent in Mandarin and English and can translate their conversations.
