Foundry worker Francois shoots and kills Valentin then hides in his room at a guest house. In no time at all, police have surrounded the building but Francois’ barricades hold firm, keeping the authorities at bay. As he puffs nervously on cigarettes, trying to think of a way out of his predicament, Francois thinks back to his relationships with two women – Francoise and Clara – who were both romantically entangled with Valentin in the past.
