Young ticket inspector Joe takes charge of the 23.59 train from London to Eastborough. Without warning, the driver slams on the brakes, bringing the train to a stop on a section of track flanked by trees, and announces he has hit something. The driver leaves his seat to investigate, but never returns. Fear and paranoia run rife and when Joe sees a mutilated body lying close to the train, he realises that everyone on board is in peril.
