At the age of 16, Hamish MacInnes climbed the Matterhorn. He subsequently invented the all metal ice axe and founded Glencoe Mountain Rescue. At the age of 84, MacInnes was institutionalised against his will in a hospital in the Highlands of Scotland. Following various attempts to escape, he emerged from psychogeriatric detainment without any recollections of his past. This documentary meets MacInnes as he attempts to repair his shattered memory and rebuild his sense of identity.
