Jill is a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Left to take care of her three young children by a neglectful husband, Bill, who is having an affair with his secretary, Jill fears she will be something reckless to endanger the lives of her young brood. She tries to take her own life, without success. When it seems that Jill is about to self-destruct, she vanishes without trace and Bill is suddenly faced with the task of caring for their offspring as well as running the family home.
