Documentary about Afghanistan's version of Pop Idol, which encourages thousands of aspiring singers to audition in the hope of winning a recording contract. Women who enter do so fearing for their lives, aware that flaunting themselves for public votes could have horrific repercussions. The film follows the contestants over the course of two months from the audition process to the televised grand final, watched by one quarter of the entire Afghan population, who sit transfixed as the remaining singers pull out all of the stops to be crowned champion.
