Producers of the ITV2 reality show – which returned for a third series last night (25.09.11) – have told the likes of Lauren Goodger, Mark Wright and Joey Essex that they need to start appearing more “normal” to fans.

An insider explained: “Producers want the cast to appear as real as possible in the new series. So they’ve been asked to cut down on going to film premieres, VIP parties and anywhere that might seem too glamorous.

“They’re happy for the stars to keep going out but would prefer them to go to the kind of venues they used to hang out in before the show became so huge. Telly bosses think viewers don’t want to see the cast being big celebs themselves.”

However, while the male cast members have taken the ban on the chin, the female stars – including newly-single Lauren Goodger and Lauren Pope – haven’t taken too kindly to the news they won’t be able to attend swanky bashes and awards ceremonies.

The source added to the Daily Star newspaper: “The boys weren’t too fussed when producers made their feelings clear, but the girls didn’t like it.

“It’s no secret that the ladies like getting glammed up for London’s hottest parties. And they would definitely miss the attention they get.”
